How It Works: Water

December 10, 2022

Included in museum admission

What better day to do a deep dive into industrial water than December 10th, when the most powerful operating waterworks steam engine in America, the Corliss at NMIH, will be running.  Throughout the day, water treatment expert John Baum will use live demonstrations and hands-on samples to show what is really happening inside the water systems all around us, and how the constant war against corrosion and mineral build up is being fought.  Learn the history behind the terms hard and soft water, and how clean water has become an essential ingredient in industry.

The Corliss engine will run at 11:30am and 2:30pm. Mr. Baum will be in the galleries between 10:30 and 4pm with a brief lunch break sometime in between.
