Perhaps the most lasting contribution that someone can make to the vitality and sustainability of NMIH is a legacy gift. The 1876 Circle recognizes patrons who express their commitment to securing the museum’s influence on future generations through designating NMIH in their will or estate plans.
While membership revenue and annual gifts provide essential support for the Museum operations, it is endowment and estate gifts that will allow the Museum to expand educational public programs, develop dynamic exhibits, and maintain our facilities and collections for generations to come.
By becoming a part of the 1876 Circle, you allow the Museum to thank and recognize you for the estate plans you have made. Your planned gift helps the Museum strategize for the future and will inspire generosity in others. In addition to potential tax benefits, 1876 Circle participation includes invitations to VIP events and receptions, recognition at the Museum’s annual gala celebrating and an 1876 Circle listing on the Museum’s website.
1876 Circle gifts can be used to build an endowment, to provide annual income to sustain the organization, to establish or support a specific program or to be used in the area of greatest need.
Legacy gifts can be made in many forms:
- Include NMIH in your will or living trust
- Designate NMIH as a beneficiary of your retirement plan
- Use your IRA to give a tax-free gift with a charitable IRA rollover
- Establish an NMIH charitable gift annuit
- Designate NMIH as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy
Please consult with a financial or tax professional to determine the most appropriate way to include the Museum in your plans, whether through a bequest, retirement plan, IRA, life insurance policy, donor-advised fund or another vehicle of your choosing.
