FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bethlehem, PA – The National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH) is pleased to share that the recent matching funds challenge opportunity offered by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) Foundation has been met. The funds raised were to support the creation of a Modern Steel Educational Kiosk to be installed in its Iron & Steel Gallery.

NMIH, in affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution, is working to forge a connection between America’s industrial past and the innovations of today by inspiring the visionaries of tomorrow. Earlier this year, the NMIH sought the steel industry’s support to upgrade the visitor experience in their Iron & Steel Gallery to include an interactive display educating tourists, young professionals, and students alike on the technology, innovation and advancements that exist in the steel industry today.

The AIST Foundation matched the full pledge of $30,000 for a total donation of $70,950 to the NMIH. Generous contributions were also made through grants from The Cleveland-Cliffs Foundation and Air Products Foundation, the AIST Philadelphia Member Chapter, the Lehigh Valley Foundrymen’s Association and multiple corporate and individual donors. A list of contributors is available below.

With the money raised, the NMIH’s plan is to install a kiosk that will feature interactive screens for visitors to engage with content about the modern steel industry, including technology, product, sustainability and career opportunities. The kiosk will officially be added to the museum’s permanent exhibit and guests will be able to learn all about the modern steel industry through this educational display for years to come.
