FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bethlehem, PA – The National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Carl A. Marrara and Shorav Kaushik to its Board of Directors. Marrara is the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association (PMA), the statewide business organization representing the interests of manufacturers in Pennsylvania’s public policy process since 1909. Kaushik focuses his practice in litigation and education law with King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul, LLC, a diversified civil law practice with its principal office located in the heart of historic downtown Bethlehem.
“We are privileged to have Mr. Marrara and Attorney Kaushik join our esteemed Board of Directors,” said Andria Zaia, President & CEO of NMIH. “Their expertise, experience and connection to our mission to educate future generations of inventors and innovators will be incredible assets to the staff and the organization.”
Mr. Marrara oversees the government affairs, external communications, and political strategy of the association. In addition, he acts as a writer, producer, and reporter for PMA Perspective, a weekly half-hour news program on Pennsylvania business, government, and politics; and as an editor of the PMA Bulletin, a premier in-depth analysis of current issues facing Pennsylvania’s businesses.
As the chief lobbyist for the association, he focuses on legislative advocacy, bill tracking, and grassroots activation. He maintains the PMA partnership with the Business Industry PAC in Washington, DC by deploying the program “PA Jobs Vote;” a toolkit for employers to engage their employees in voter registration and legislative issue education. To better advocate pro-growth policies, Mr. Marrara focuses on building coalitions with allied stakeholders such as regional manufacturing associations, trade groups, and national think tanks. He also directs the strategy of PMA PAC, the affiliated political action committee of PMA.
With a tenure of more than a decade at PMA, Marrara graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Elizabethtown College in 2009, and obtained a Master of Arts in Public Policy from New England College in 2012, where he now serves as a part-time lecturer. He also serves on the boards of the Foundation for Free Enterprise Education, the Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Council, and is on the steering committee of the Business-Industry Political Action Committee. As a life-long Pennsylvanian hailing from Danville, Marrara now calls Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania home with his wife and two daughters.
Attorney Kaushik has built a career managing clients’ exposure in tort claims and defending educational institutions. He has handled Federal and State industrial actions and advised on all aspects of risk management. For over a decade, Mr. Kaushik has defended industries, including transportation, construction, manufacturing, energy companies, and property owners. At King Spry, Mr. Kaushik has defended school districts and municipalities in civil rights matters, premises liability cases, insurance coverage issues, and at trial in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations.
Prior to joining KingSpry, Atty. Kaushik served as a senior attorney with several prominent litigation firms in New York and New Jersey. He began his career as a legal aide in the office of the New York State Attorney General’s Office where he defended determinations of public agencies. Kaushik also serves on his homeowner’s association board as well as the boards of the Lower Saucon Planning Commission and the Lower Saucon Pension Commission. He resides with his family in Hellertown, Pennsylvania.
The National Museum of Industrial History continues its efforts to expand its Board of Directors to support the organizational mission, vision, and strategic goals. Recent Board appointees include Curt Hoyak of Albarell Electric, Bridget Kidd of the Propane Educational and Research Council and Kathleen Weslock of Ansys.
